Introducing LOVE, JOY & PARDON.

"I realize when I was interviewing the Khmer Rouge, I was waiting for them to ask me for forgiveness.  They never did.  Now I know forgiveness is a gift.  I need to offer it whether I think they deserve it or not.  As a result we have a powerful new element to our project."
-Socheata Poeuv

More than 1 & 1/2 years ago Socheata and I sat in prayer before she left for Cambodia for the first _1210051043227296time.  We did not know then where this project would go if anywhere.  The theme of NYB came to me clearly.  We would make a film on Love, Joy & Pardon.  When the story of her parents' survival and life reclaimed in America were uncovered, the love and joy was obvious.  We have been looking and waiting for the pardon.  Now we think we found it.

The mission of New Year Baby is to touch, move & inspire 3 million people with a story of Love, Joy & Pardon.  How and when we succeed is a matter of time and commitment. This project is so much bigger than one film, one broadcast or one story. No one can do it alone.

Here are our recent efforts.:

*Socheata is writing an article for the Open Society Justice Institute's Magazine, a George Soros foundation.
*We are still negotiating the licensing agreement with NAATA.
* Soch and Charles met with animator/graphics designer/illustrator Andy Gonsalves.  You can check out his work at AndyGonsalves.com .  He's very talented .
* Our first donor hosted dinner party was on June 25 at Dana Lynn's Upper East Side apartment.
* Our next donor hosted dinner party is on July 30th at Jonathan Hogg's midtown apartment.
* Our sponsor Sunshine Realty  is providing terrific office space @ Astor & Lafayette.
